A Monthly Note from Superintendent Scallon

September 30, 2025

Dear Weld RE-4 Families,

Fall is in full gear! I had a wonderful time attending "The Grail" game a few weeks ago. This annual matchup between Windsor and Severance exemplifies our community spirit: we are able to have a healthy competition while maintaining our respectful camaraderie. View the crosstown rivalry on the Windsor Wizards Broadcasting Network.

Attendance Matters We know that attendance at school has a significant impact on student success. Students who miss just two days a month for any reason are more likely to not read at grade level, and more likely to not graduate. If your child struggles with attendance, please reach out to your school for resources and support. We look forward to partnering with you to make sure your child has the opportunity to learn and thrive at our schools.

Parent-Teacher Conferences Parents are a critical partner in the success of a child's education. We want to have all of our parents connected and engaged with our schools. There is no time more important to engage with your child's teacher than during Parent-Teacher Conferences. If you haven't already, I would strongly encourage you to sign up for a time to meet with your child's teacher, if nothing more than to check in and build a relationship. Please know that our staff are here to partner with you and, ultimately, are working to support your child's success.

School Safety Month Looking ahead: October is School Safety Month. Starting next week, you'll learn more about our Safety & Security efforts. Each and every day, your child's safety is our number one priority. In the event of an emergency, please know that we work to communicate as much accurate information as quickly as possible. We ask your patience and trust in our reliable messages, which may be challenging with competing narratives in the age of instant texts.

Thank you for your support of our students, schools, and community. It takes a village, and we're so blessed to have you as a member of ours.

With Gratitude,

Michelle Scallon Superintendent
