A Message from Weld RE-4 Superintendent Dan Seegmiller

We are excited to welcome students back to school!

As anticipated, it was a busy summer. Crews in our district tackled more than 50 bond-funded construction projects. Playgrounds, roofs, HVAC systems, interior lights, fire alarms, security vestibules, window replacements, and security cameras were among the projects addressed in schools around the district. That's in addition to the bigger projects---the Windsor High School Innovation Center and Severance High School construction---that you may have seen from the road.

We want to take this opportunity to thank our families for their support and understanding of our later start to the year. Projects completed this summer will be felt in a number of ways. Climate control systems will function more reliably, and the effects of rain and snow melt will be mitigated by improved drainage and roof repairs. New carpet and paint will provide a fresh feel in our older buildings, while the space created by the new Innovation Center at Windsor High School will give students some room to spread out.

A group of people that deserves recognition for going above and beyond in the aftermath of construction is our district and building maintenance staff. On top of their regular work of getting schools ready for the start of a new year, their support on multiple assignments was critical during the brief construction window. They pitched in with enthusiasm.

Putting the pieces back together after construction includes giving our grounds a little TLC. For most of the summer, water at several sites was disconnected due to the types of projects in progress. Landscaping suffered, but give us a few months and our great groundskeepers will have everything looking good again.

There is a lot to celebrate with the start of the 2018-19 school year. We hope you will join us for a Windsor High School Community Open House and Ribbon Cutting on September 13th. In addition, we will offer free admission to the Windsor Wizards high school football game on September 22nd to show our appreciation for the community's ongoing and generous support of our district. Please read on for more information about these events.

We look forward to a great year ahead!

A Preview of Weld RE-4 Boundary Changes

In the fall of 2018, the Weld RE-4 School District will launch a public process to create an enrollment boundary for Severance High School (opening in fall, 2019). At that time, the district will also examine school boundaries district wide in an effort to fix imbalances in school populations due to enrollment growth concentrated in certain areas of our district.

In order to accommodate all current elementary and middle school children in the district, boundaries must be realigned. Range View Elementary School has significantly more students in its boundaries than will fit in the school. Please mark your calendar for the following 2018 public meetings:

·Tuesday, October 23rd at 7:00pm, at Severance Middle School

·Thursday, October 25th at 7:00pm, at Grandview Elementary School

·Monday, October 29th at 5:30pm, at Windsor High School

The Weld RE-4 Board of Education is tentatively scheduled to vote on boundary changes in December 2018. Families will receive new boundary information in January 2019. Check the district website for updates.

Windsor High School Grand Re-Opening Open House

After a full year of construction, Windsor High School has been fully remodeled and the Innovation Center completed. On Thursday, September 13th at 6 pm, you are invited to see the new space in action and help us usher in a new era for Windsor High School with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony.

In celebration of the community support that made this project (and dozens of other improvement projects throughout the district) possible this summer, admission to the September 22nd Windsor Wizards football game will be free for all. Kick-off is at 11 am. We hope to see you there!
