The Board of Education met for its regular meeting yesterday, April 18, and we wanted to share an update:

Potential 2022 Bond, Mill Levy Options Presented

In the work session, the Board reviewed high-level options and updated cost information for a potential 2022 bond measure and/or mill levy override. The ad hoc Bond Steering Committee will meet April 25 to review updated information and to develop three potential packages for community input.

American Legacy Academy Proposes Land Acquisition

American Legacy Academy (ALA) — a potential new charter school — brought a request to the Board to acquire the RainDance property, a site currently slated for a 600-student K-5 elementary school. The Board decided to gather community input and explore additional options. A community meeting with the RainDance neighborhood will be held to gather input from 5 - 7 p.m. Monday, May 2, at the RainDance Welcome Center (2191 Covered Bridge Parkway, Windsor, CO, 80550). The land proposal is a separate decision from ALA’s charter application. ALA submitted its charter application yesterday for district review and Board action.

Scallon to Begin Superintendent Role June 1

The Board approved Michelle Scallon’s contract for Superintendent. Scallon will begin her new role June 1, a month earlier than anticipated. The Board also accepted Interim Superintendent Rod L. Blunck’s resignation, effective May 31.

All Board of Education meetings are live streamed, and the recordings can be found on our website. The recording for yesterday’s meeting will be posted to our School Board page soon.
